Introduction

Mathematics is a compulsory core subject for all students at post-16 until they have achieved a grade 'C' at GCSE or equivalent. It is diverse, engaging and essential in equipping our students with the right skills for their future.

At Ashley School we offer two levels of qualification, GCSE and Level 1. If applicable, students will follow one of these courses, depending on their level of ability.

The course will cover these areas:

  • Number and Algebra
  • Ratio, proportion and rates of change

The GCSE course will follow a programme dependent on the students' abilities. Other subjects may be taught to improve students' life skills as and when appropriate.

Functional Skills Level 1 Course

The course aims to promote mathematical thinking and problem solving skills.

Students will learn about Mathematics that is useful in everyday life and the world of work.
