We currently employ one Speech and Language Therapist, who is responsible for completing a baseline assessment for each student upon entry to the 6th Form and ongoing assessment thereafter in line with the annual review process. A holistic approach is used in their intervention and therapy is tailored to meet the very specific communication, sensory and emotional needs of each individual using innovative and highly motivating strategies to develop functional communication, language and social skills.
Occupational Therapy aims to develop each young person's independence and functional performance across a wide range of activities and environments.
OT assessment and intervention addresses any underlying sensory, perceptual or motor difficulties, which impact upon the young person's ability to access learning or to engage in activities of daily living. The OT provides assessment, advice, information and evaluation to ensure that each student benefits from the correct emotional and physical conditions to maximise their learning and well-being.
A full therapeutic programme that includes Anger Management, Mentor Support, Massage, Peer Massage and Friendship sessions that enable students to de-stress, unwind, relax and practice calming techniques.
